The District inter-school quiz competition held at St. Luke Catholic Church in Akrofuom was won by Akrofuom D/A JHS.
The quiz contest is one of the events planned to commemorate the Akrofuom District's fifth anniversary.
After overcoming fierce competition from Akrofuom R/C JHS, Akrofuom Methodist JHS, and Okyerekrom D/A JHS, which each scored 42 points, 41 points, and 19 points, Akrofuom D/A JHS was crowned champion with 45 points.
Gifts like school bags and a participation certificate were presented to the participants.
Legislative Instrument 2329 of 2017 established the District, which was officially inaugurated on March 15, 2018, along with 37 other districts. However, the District Assembly has planned a plethora of events to mark its five years of existence.
The celebration will include the following activities: dinner and awards night, quiz competition, soccer competition, and clean-up exercise On Wednesday, March 15, a grand durbar will bring the activities for the fifth anniversary to a close.
Visit to the Central Mosque Following the inter-school quiz, Maurice Jonas Woode, the District Chief Executive, and representatives from the Assembly gathered with Muslims in the District to observe Friday's Jumah prayers.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, the Imam and elders thanked the District Chief Executive for the visit. They pledged their unwavering support for the District Chief Executive's activities and offered prayers for the district as a whole.
They requested that an Islamic school be established in the community.
DCE Woode reassured them that the Assembly would take their request into consideration and provide a favorable response.
He mentioned that the district was established on March 15, 2018, in response to a suggestion that had been made for some time due to the community's lack of development.
Since it was separated from the Adansi South District, it has seen significant economic expansion in all spheres.
Dr. Woode talked about the construction of 12 school blocks in the education sector. Ten of the blocks have already been handed over, and the other two are in the process of being built.
He added that the district has an Education Director who is working to raise the district's educational standards. Additionally, the district has provided financial aid packages to gifted students from low-income families. Additionally, the Member of Parliament has provided trunks, mattresses, chop boxes, and other items in packages for students who perform well on the BECE exam.
He stated that four CHPS compounds have been constructed and handed over in the health sector, and that more are currently being constructed in collaboration with the Japan Embassy in Ghana. He made it clear once more that hospitals that needed to be fixed have been fixed to raise standards. The locale has likewise sent extra attendants and wellbeing authorities to further develop medical services access.
“Only ten of the over 80 communities had access to electricity before the district was established. However, more than forty (40) communities now have access to electricity since its establishment.
MCE Woode stated that the Akrofuom District has seen significant enhancements since its establishment.
He also revealed plans for future development and urged citizens to cooperate to ensure the district's continued expansion and prosperity.
