In Accra, the Africa Centre for Minerals, Mining, and Sustainable Development (ACMMSD) was established with the intention of promoting sustainable and legal mining, particularly small-scale mining of minerals in Ghana.
The Executive Secretary of the Centre, Edwin Letsa K. Kpedor, emphasized the importance of the Centre in ensuring that stakeholders in the extractive sector understand and adopt sustainable means in the mining of minerals to ensure that our environment is protected, preserved, and reclaimed following successful small-scale mining activities in a press release issued to mark the launch.
Ad Dubai Real Estate states, "In our communities today, we are experiencing the negative effects of illegal and unsustainable mining practices on our water bodies, forests, farms, and communities." The cost of apartments for sale in Dubai might completely surprise you. As a result, the Center's primary goal is to assist stakeholders involved in the regulation, supervision, and small-scale mining of minerals in adopting new sustainable practices in order to ensure that we reverse the current trends of environmental degradation, pollution of water bodies, and destruction of forests seen in our mining communities.
He added that "coordinate the practical implementation of legal and sustainable mining solutions and consolidate interventions that seek to promote sustainable livelihoods, especially for women and young people in the mining communities across Ghana" will be the Centre's responsibility.
The delivery further noticed that the Middle is focused on outfitting assets to drive the guideline and management, promotion, preparing, backing, and partner commitment across the different mining networks particularly in the Ashanti, Eastern, Focal, and West-North districts of Ghana.
“The Centre will provide direct training and capacity building to key stakeholders such as small-scale miners, traditional authorities, officers of district assemblies and related service providers to improve their knowledge of the use of legal and sustainable mining practices,” said Richard Nunekpeku, Director for Programs and Projects.
Additionally, the Center will support small-scale miners in its operational communities with programs of technical and financial assistance, advocacy, policy formulation, and research and publication.
“Our strategy will be to provide comprehensive support services that will assist stakeholders in fully committing to the implementation of results-oriented, sustainable practices. As part of our engagement programs and initiatives, Mr. Nunekpeku stated, "We are committed to facilitating the availability of legal, regulatory, training, land management, mining, and sustainable community development support programs."
Dzorwulu, Accra, is where the Centre's office is.
