Dorcas Affo-Toffey, a member of parliament representing Jomoro Constituency, has expressed her gratitude to a group of unidentified supporters who have pledged to pay for her filing fee in advance of the parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
She promised to work for her constituents as their MP and political leader and stated that the gesture gives her courage and support.Farmers, businesspeople, teachers, executives, and businesswomen all contribute the GH20,000 filing fee.On Wednesday, February 22, a philanthropist named Paul Nyamekeh paid for the GH5,000 worth of nomination forms that were selected on her behalf.
She wrote on her official Facebook page, "Let me say how overwhelmed I am when I heard the move by these individuals, especially Mr. Paul Nyamekeh, who hails from Bonyere but resides at Jaway Wharf, who paid a whopping GH5,000 nomination form."
“I will promise to work for you as your MP and political leader. This gives me courage and support from the people of Jomoro.
"My gratitude also goes to the traders and admirers, many of whom I do not personally know, who are making such contributions to pay for my filing fee."
Despite winning the seat in 2020, Madam Affo-Toffey was taken to court over a case involving dual citizenship.
However, the petition filed against her was dismissed by the Sekondi High Court in November 2022.
